Visual Identity
Kiskeya is a Mamajuana Kit that offers an authentic experience of the Dominican Republic's cherished Mamajuana drink. This project involved researching and developing the entire concept, crafting Kiskeya's visual identity, designing a cohesive series of packaging and a merchandise stand, and creating an immersive website. Targeted at the Dominican diaspora and travelers wanting to relive their experiences, Kiskeya fills a market gap with a high-quality, culturally rich product.
The Kiskeya logo is an organic interpretation of the Bayahibe Rose, the national flower of the Dominican Republic (Leuenbergeria quisqueyana). This design symbolizes the brand’s deep connection to the island’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
Through my research, I explored the strong connection between Mamajuana and Taino roots, which was key in shaping the brand’s visual identity. To honor this heritage, I incorporated Taino symbols, inspired by those on the 100 pesos bill, to highlight the Taino influence on Mamajuana. These symbols are integrated into the brand’s image to emphasize the drink’s cultural and historical significance.
Given that the product is intended for both Dominicans and foreigners, I saw the need to create the kit instructions in both English and Spanish. To achieve this, I used a circular accordion design, inspired by the accordion, a key instrument in merengue típico, a traditional music genre from the Dominican Republic. This approach not only facilitates the use of the product but also reinforces the connection to Dominican culture.
Developed a website prototype on Figma to showcase and sell the Kiskeya Mamajuana Kit. The design prioritizes a
user-friendly experience with intuitive navigation and visuals that reflect the brand's cultural essence. The prototype highlights clean navigation, clear product information, and an immersive storytelling approach, making it easy for users to explore Mamajuana's story and make purchases.
